Today, 11 years ago, Picnic in a Box was born. Not Today, 11 years ago, Picnic in a Box was born. Not from a big plan. Not from funding or fancy equipment. But from a mom with three kids… and bills to pay. I knew month end was coming, and I knew I didn’t have enough. So I did the only thing I could - I combined what I had. I was a graphic designer. I loved making food. So I merged the two. That first Valentine’s Day, I launched Picnic in a Box - picnic boxes for couples. Real picnics. In real boxes. Everything was personalised. I designed and hand-made every single detail: • Paper triangle flags • Garlands • Custom name flags for each couple • Stickers I cut by hand through the night • Personalised love notes and handmade gifts inside every box I couldn’t afford proper vinyl printing, so my mom sat with me late that night, helping me cut every label. Each box opened to a personal message from one partner to the other. There were wraps, drinks, décor - a full experience. It was exhausting. And it was magic. Over the years, the business evolved. The offering changed. But one thing never did - the creativity. In 2020, I started studying naturopathy. Colour therapy and herbalism became part of my world - and naturally, part of my work. Those elements found their way into my grazing tables and boxes, adding intention, feeling, and a deeper layer of connection. Picnic in a Box grew into something more than a picnic offering. It became about connection, experience, and making people feel something. @grazecafeofficial became the next step in the evolution. My offering has grown into grazing tables, grazing boxes, curated tables, coffee tasting experiences, and grazing experiences that can be booked. And this year, I’m adding grazing workshops - so I can share my love for this art with others. 11 years later… I still love what I do. I still create from the heart. And it all started with love, necessity, scissors, paper, and a belief that something beautiful could be made from very little. Here’s to growth. Here’s to evolution.
